NRL SuperCoach Round 21 players to watch, match centres, weather and tips
We're now deep into the season and it's getting harder to find a point of difference. Here's some of the players who should be on your radar going to NRL SuperCoach Round 21.
Thursday, July 23
Parramatta Eels v Penrith Panthers, CommBank Stadium, 7.50pm AEST
Parramatta weather - game time: Fine. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: Where will Tom Jenkins line up? Many had big plans for the VC on Milky, but the ruling out of Dylan Edwards on Wednesday complicates matters. Jenkins shifted to fullback in the team list, as he did earlier this season when Edwards went down mid game, but young gun Jaxen Edgar is in with a sniff. Either outcome could cap his ceiling.
Friday, July 24
Newcastle Knights vs Sydney Roosters, McDonald Jones Stadium, 6pm AEST
Newcastle weather - game time: Fine. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: Many are tossing up James Tedesco or Reece Walsh as a trade in this week and new (and patient) owners will be hoping the Roosters No.1 puts them at ease. He is the proven premium fullback for a number of years, but has had peaks and troughs in 2026. However, Teddy is a man for the run home, scoring three tons from this point on last year and he should be well refreshed after more than two weeks out.
South Sydney Rabbitohs v Melbourne Storm, Accor Stadium, 8pm AEST
Sydney Olympic Park weather - game time: Fine. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: A lot of people were looking to sell Sua Fa'alogo this week or soon, but you could be pretty happy with the hold, especailly if you have had a Turbo sized mess to clean up. Sua's score last week was a disappointing 51, but he should've had two tries that were absolutely butchered to get him into the 90s. This week their opponents the Rabbitohs are in crisis with their personnel, causing them to struggle to defend last week, so Sua could become a good POD captain option.
Saturday, July 25
Canberra Raiders v Wests Tigers, GIO Stadium, 3pm AEST
Canberra weather - game time: Fine. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: There have been concerns over the role of Alex Twal in recent weeks, but also his effectiveness (or lack of) in those minutes. We're not doubting the man is a specimen with those biceps, but heads are down and players are in-and-out of the line-up willy nilly at the Tigers, so he may not get help from those around in. Could he be a player you sit or just don't play on the home? This will dictate it for many.
Canterbury Bulldogs v New Zealand Warriors, Accor Stadium, 5.30pm AEST
Sydney Olympic Park weather - game time: Fine. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: Another POD player SuperCoaches could consider Vilame Kikau, who is getting the start this week after coming off the bench in his return from a pec injury. It might surprise you to learn Kiks has a base + power average of 50 and he now joins a left edge with Stephen Crichton inside him and Matt Burton outside. The only worry is if they don't pick up another win soon, he could be managed for the rest of the seson.
North Queensland Cowboys v Brisbane Broncos, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, 7.35pm AEST
x weather - game time: Mostly sunny. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: Has enough been said about why Reece Walsh is a great purchase this week? Maybe not enough has been asked about why he's not. There's reasonable options around a similar price, but they don't quite have the upside Walsh can bring. Can he stay as consistent as he did from this time on in 2025, when he averaged 114 points including five scores of 130+? Time will tell.
Sunday, July 26
St George-Illawarra Dragons v Gold Coast Titans, Jubilee Oval, 2pm AEST
Sydney weather - game time: Mostly sunny. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: Tino Fa'asuamaleaui has been beasting it for the past few months let alone the past few weeks and surprise, suprise, the Titans have started looing quite good. This time he runs into the Couchmans, where he will be looking for a repeat of the 100 score he had on the weekend. Any who held off Koloamatangi and owns Haas and needs a FRF could do worse the the Titans skipper, who has a crazy three-round base + power average is 71.
Manly Sea Eagles v Cronulla Sharks, 4 Pines Park, 4.05pm AEST
Sydney weather - game time: Mostly sunny. 0-10% chance of rain
Player of interest: A Sunday afternoon at Brookie is not usually a target venue for a captaincy bid, but keep Nicho Hynes in mind for your C should a free loop not be an option for you. The Sea Eagles are coming off conceding 38 points and Kieran Foran didn't seem to have many ideas to fix it as he deals with a bit of an injury crisis emerging. When the Sharks get in a mood, they're hard to stop, so there's a reason he is the highest averaging active player this year. You can captain him with confidence.
