NRL SuperCoach Round 27 players to watch, match centres, weather and tips
It's the final round for NRL SuperCoach 2026 and it has turned into the week we all feared. Here's some of the players who should be on your radar if you want to have some fun to finish the season.
Thursday, September 3
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Brisbane Broncos, Accor Stadium, 7.50pm AEST
Sydney Olympic Park weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: There's a massive VC sleeper lurking in this game and his name is Jacob Preston. With uncertainty around some usual suspects, you might not have to think about it after Thursday if you trust the rep-star-in-waiting. Preston is running at one of the best edges for SuperCoach scoring and Lachy Galvin might turn his reliable short ball into overdrive.
Friday, September 4
Gold Coast Titans vs Dolphins, Cbus Super Stadium, 6pm AEST
Gold Coast weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: Ol’ last round Tevita Naufahu is back again on Selwyn Cobbo’s wing in a juicy matchup with the Titans. Last year, Naufahu scored 170 in Round 27 and this year he’s been given more chances and looks every bit a gun in waiting with his tackle break and try scoring ability, coming in on a five round average of 73. The Ballr projections see the talent and see him at 84 points this week.
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters, Allianz Stadium, 8pm AEST
Sydney weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: Bursting on to the scene earlier this year, Toby Rodwell scored 61 points in 26 minutes on debut during Origin bye rounds, scoring a try and setting up another in a whirlwind performance. He well and truly passed the eye test with his control and attacking threat and will be running the show with still a decent pack behind him. The other team has some bloke called Latrell Mitchell who has a Ballr projection of 106. You may have heard of him? An easy VC or C.
Saturday, September 5
Warriors vs Manly Sea Eagles, Go Media Stadium, 3pm AEST (5pm local time)
Auckland weather - game time: Clear. Very low chance of rain.
Player of interest: He was a frustrating early season cheapie but suddenly Jacob Laban is one of the form SuperCoach assets who could be fun watch this week. The Wahs are at home as they reach for the minor premiership against a Sea Eagles side who now has absolutely nothing to play for. Laban has a five-round average of 90 and should be in the black book for 2027 as he'll be priced in the mid-50s.
North Queensland Cowboys vs Canberra Raiders, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, 5.30pm AEST
Townsville weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: The coaches on either side didn't exactly give us much in the way of fun options but it could be fun to trade in Simi Sasagi (or have an armband on him) as the Raiders look to send Josh Papali'i out on a high before they hit the Mad Cow. Even on one arm he's one of the best centres in the comp and won't let a trainer take him off. Sasagi has the highest three-round average of any player - a crazy 111.3.
Cronulla Sharks vs Melbourne Storm, Ocean Protect Stadium, 7.35pm AEST
Cronulla weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: The front runner for Jesse Ramien’s spot next year is Michael Gabrael, so this could be your chance to get a taste of what’s to come from him before he’s in your Round 1 team for 2027. Gabrael played for NSW U19 in 2024 and is known for his footwork, tackle break ability and nous for sniffing out a try, scoring eight in 12 Cup games this year.
Sunday, September 6
St George-Illawarra Dragons vs Parramatta Eels, WIN Stadium, 2pm AEST
Wollongong weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: Electric Kiwi Apa Twidle flashed his upside at fullback in an impressive effort against the Sharks last week. Add to the 88 he scored in 26 minutes on debut and there’s every reason to be excited for his potential when he links with the Bears. For now, he has a great matchup with the Dragons, projected 65.
Penrith Panthers vs Wests Tigers, CommBank Stadium, 4.05pm AEST
Parramatta weather - game time: Clear. 0-10% chance of rain.
Player of interest: Fijian international Solomone Saukuru has turned heads in his three NRL games and is in the midst of a tug-of-war for his services for next year, which could be key to his SuperCoach relevance. So far he’s shown he can sniff a try and have decent base stats, giving a three-round average of 60. But this is his biggest test yet.
