NRL SuperCoach Sunday Snap: NRL Round 18 Recap | Ballr
The Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast crew of Jono and Matt broke down a subdued Round 18 as the big captaincy picks failed to fire.
The latest Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast Sunday Snap saw host Jono joined by regular co-host Matt Rix (Terrace Crew) to break down a Round 18 that both agreed was one of the most low-variance rounds of the 2026 NRL SuperCoach season.
Jono's side Hungry Fermor sits inside the overall top 25 but posted what he thought was a slightly under-par score of 949, while Matt's Terrace Crew had a similarly middling week of 936 - both expecting most SuperCoach teams landed somewhere between the 900s and low 1100s.
Ready to explode and rage trades
The Ballers Only Discord community again shaped the show's talking points. Cody Walker was the week's biggest rage-trade lightning rod after a sin-binning overshadowed a 43-point return, while David Fifita's tired 44-point, 55-minute display sparked genuine concern about his playing time for the NRL SuperCoach run home.
Round highlights
Penrith stole the headlines against South Sydney, with winger Tom Jenkins bagging a 121-point hat-trick and Paul Alamoti continuing his career-best form with 135 points while covering the goal-kicking.
Over at Manly, breakout halfback Joey Walsh impressed on debut, but Tom Trbojevic had a 68-point return in a disappointment to captainers as the Sea Eagles failed to fire a shot against the lowly Eels.
Many coaches were breathing a sigh of relief he played at all, with the Discord in meltdown concerned Turbo had suffered a hamstring injury recurrence when he left the field during the warm-up.
However, it ended up being a simple change of boots.
At the Dolphins, Herbie Farnworth was the most-captained player of the round but managed only 55 points, while Jamayne Isaako stepped up with a solid 76.
Trade talk for the run home
Jono confirmed his one trade for the week: moving on from the injured Jackson Ford to bring in Alex Twal, while keeping the door open on Keaon Koloamatangi as a value forward option. Both hosts stressed the importance of banking cash and picking the right run-home targets as SuperCoach coaches enter the business end of the 2026 season with dwindling trades.
