NRL SuperCoach Sunday Snap: NRL Round 19 Recap | Ballr
The Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast crew of Matt and Tubes broke down a high-scoring Round 19 in which most premium players lived up to their price tag.
It was a big swing in fortunes on this week's Ballr Sunday Snap podcast episode as Matt and co-host Tubes reviewed a huge Round 19 of SuperCoach action.
Matt bounced back from a slow patch with a big 1608 (1614 after updates), powered by his vice-captaincy pick and loop on Nicho Hynes, who put up one of the best scores of the season.
Tubes had a quieter week by comparison, posting 1386 (1396 after updates), instead making a late call to VC Adam Doueihi instead of Hynes, ultimately captaining Tom Trbojevic.
Rage Trades and Ready-to-Explode Picks
The rage trades segment, sourced from the Ballrs Only Discord, featured Rabbitohs hooker Brandon Smith, who managed just 27 points despite an eye-catching NRL performance, undone by 12 missed tackles.
Knights winger Greg Marzhew was next, forced off with injury after a 20-point outing, while Manly's Reuben Garrick copped criticism for a 48 (52 revised) with no goal-kicking duties, continuing his rocky run as a SuperCoach hold.
On the Ready to Explode front, Raiders back-rower Noah Martin impressed with a return-from-injury 76 in 80 minutes, though the hosts agreed patience is the play until he's guaranteed a starting role alongside Hudson Young.
Round 19 Highlights
Nicho Hynes stole the show with a monster 197 (196 after updates) in the Sharks' 66-0 demolition of the Dolphins, while Jesse Ramien (125) and Sione Katoa (98) also cashed in.
Over at Campbelltown, the Warriors thumped the Tigers, with Te Maire Martin (107) continuing to justify his price tag.
At Accor Stadium, Raiders back-rower Zac Hosking produced a 130-point hat-trick from lock, while Matt Timoko and Ethan Sanders also stood out in the win over the Bulldogs.
Souths edged the Knights 26-24 on the back of a stunning 123 from new fullback Matt Dufty, with Kalyn Ponga (111) and Dylan Lucas (100) keeping the Knights competitive.
Manly fell agonisingly short against the Cowboys despite a big game from Haumole Olakau'atu (96), and the Storm survived a scare from the Titans, featuring a great effort from fullback Keano Kini (108) to close out the round.
Looking Ahead to Round 20
Both hosts are circling Nathan Cleary as a priority trade for the run home, with Matt weighing up moves involving James Tedesco and Zac Hosking to fund his midfield shuffle.
With six trades apiece remaining for the hosts, the back end of the season is shaping as a battle of nerve as much as talent.
