The Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast crew of Jono and CMac broke down a Round 20 in which all of the most popular captain options failed to fire.
Ballr's Sunday Snap podcast was back after Round 20 of the NRL SuperCoach season, with host Jono (Hungry Fermor) joined by fill-in co-host CMac (CMac's Shark Attack) for the round review
It was a "meh" week for the big names across the board — CMac's Shark Attack posted a solid 1305, wisely avoiding an early captain call on Nathan Cleary and instead handing the armband to Herbie Farnworth (78 points).
Jono's Hungry Fermor finished on 1277, a slightly-above-par score but not the breakout week he'd hoped for after returning from a family trip to Hawaii.
Ready to Explode
The headline trade target of the round is Broncos fullback Reece Walsh, who exploded for 106 points and 3 assists after picking up the Broncos' goalkicking duties late in the game - a huge signal for owners looking to replace the injured Tom Trbojevic.
Both hosts are planning on making the move this week.
Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater is the other buy-now option after Jake Clifford was again benched by coach Todd Payten, handing Drinkwater the kicking tee for a 47-point return.
Rage Trades
The Ballrs Only Discord nominated several frustrating scores, including Storm outside back Sua Fa'alogo (51, impacted by the halves injuries around him), Wests Tigers prop Terrell May (71 in just 61 minutes) and halfback Adam Doueihi (36).
The consensus was while May was underwhelming, he's too good to trade.
Trbojevic's hamstring injury makes him the round's easiest trade call.
Round review highlights
There were big performances from Broncos duo Payne Haas (72) and Xavier Willison (68), Panthers winger Brian To'o (114 with two tries), while Panthers centre Casey McLean had a nightmare return game for those who held.
Sharks pair Sione Katoa and Nicho Hynes continue to frustrate SuperCoach owners despite strong real-world form, while hooker Blayke Brailey and backrower Briton Nikora had modest weeks.
For the Knights, Dylan Lucas, Fletcher Sharpe, Greg Marzhew and Kalyn Ponga all featured strongly, while Roosters centre Mark Nawaqanitawase's underwhelming three-round stretch has owners reconsidering his automatic-selection status.
