NRL SuperCoach Sunday Snap: NRL Round 23 Recap | Ballr
The Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast crew of Jono and Tubes broke down what was a challenging Round 23 - especially for one host - in the latest edition of the Sunday Snap.
Jono's Hungry Fermor put up 1401 in what he called a "weird" Round 23 with no standout scores, while Tubes' side crawled to 1268 after a tough week that included his beloved Sharks going down to the Dragons.
Both hosts admitted the round felt like a slow bleed rather than a disaster, with plenty of scores sitting in that 1350–1450 par range.
Rage Trades
Sam Walker copped heat after a quiet 39, though Jono and Tubes agreed he's still a handy pod for the run home given his 120-point average across his last two hits.
Mark Nawaqanitawase drew fire again (30 points) as his eye test continues to lag his output, while Reuben Garrick's rollercoaster season saw him nominated yet again after an attcking stat-less 36. The hosts labelled him a permanent "sit when you can" option rather than a trade.
Ready to Explode
Lindsay Smith is the sleeper the pair are excited about, with Isaah Yeo's suspected season-ending pec injury opening a starting lock spot at Penrith.
Billy Walters also got a nod after a 94-point haul in just 59 minutes for the Broncos.
Big Scores
Heilum Luki (109) continues his return to top form for the Cowboys, Billy Smith (110) was praised as one of the year's most underrated Roosters PODs, Luke Metcalf (112) starred deputising for the injured Te Maire Martin at the Warriors, and Nathan Cleary (100) kept rolling for the ladder-leading Panthers, despite their loss.
Leka Halasima's move to centre also paid off with a 94-point performance, so he could be one to watch.
Big Ballr Moves
Both hosts are banking their final trades, preferring to hold for what they expect will be an injury-driven Rounds 26–27.
