The Ballr NRL SuperCoach podcast was back with the Sunday Snap, and hosts Jono (Hungry Fermor) and Cracker (Toia Story) opened Round 24 comparing contrasting weekends. Cracker's Toia Story squad racked up a strong 1334 points, comfortably above the round's benchmark, while Jono's Hungry Fermor finished on 1275 after a costly blow when star fullback Reece Walsh went down injured - a bitter pill for his hopes of a top 100 finish.

Reece Walsh dominates the Rage Trades

The biggest talking point of the round was Reece Walsh, who managed just one point before a hip-drop tackle led to a syndesmosis injury and season-ending surgery, with an eight-week recovery that could see him return in time for the Kangaroos' World Cup campaign.

At a SuperCoach price around $550k, the hosts flagged just how tricky the position and price bracket make him to trade, with cash-strapped coaches short on quality fullback replacements.

Sharks centre KL Iro copped a fresh wave of frustration after a 50-point outing with zero attacking stats, well down on the back-to-back hat-tricks he posted back in Rounds 8 and 9, while Bulldogs edge forward Jacob Kiraz also drew heat after a frustrating 44-point outing including five errors, with three costly offloads going straight to Rabbitohs defenders.

Ready to Explode: Hamish Stewart

Dragons forward Hamish Stewart continued his red-hot run in the Ready to Explode segment, posting 90 points off a try and a forced dropout — his sixth straight game with a try or try assist — prompting debate over whether he's now a genuine top-six second-rower for SuperCoach purposes.

Round 24 highlights

Elsewhere, South Sydney's Tallis Duncan continued his breakout campaign with 101 points including a try and two line breaks, while Knights fullback Kalyn Ponga (86) and Titans forward Fletcher Sharpe (87, including a standout solo try) also featured prominently.

Greg Marzhew also bagged another double to move into third for most tries this season.

Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase also caught the eye with a tidy 61-point return, 56 of it in base plus power, as the hosts flagged him as a potential factor for the run home.

And with Panthers lock Isaah Yeo sidelined, forward Isaiah Papali'i stepped up admirably, playing all 80 minutes for 79 points and looking a genuine week-to-week SuperCoach option while he covers the extra minutes.

Big Ballr Moves

Looking ahead, the hosts weighed up Reece Walsh replacement options including Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater and Storm fullback Sualauvi Fa'alogo, while also giving credit to Rabbitohs fullback Matt Dufty, who finally cashed in with a 116-point haul after weeks of solid-but-quiet form.
