Ballr NRL SuperCoach Podcast | Sunday Snap Round 13
Get the breakdown of the big NRL SuperCoach talking points covered in the Sunday Snap post-Round 13.
Round 13 was a case of steady-as-she-goes, with decent scores clustered between 1,200 and 1,400 for most coaches, with carnage reserved for those hit by the Origin absences such as Nathan Cleary, Haumole Olakau’atu and Tolu Koula in addition to the players who were meant to cover them such as KL Iro and Nicho Hynes.
Here's what Jono and Cracker broke down on the latest Sunday Snap.
SuperCoach NRL Round 13 Overview
Unlike Magic Round's wild swings, NRL SuperCoach Round 13 was a tighter, more predictable week. Coaches who dodged the Origin fallout settled around par, while anyone captaining Sam Walker — who finished on a negative score — faced a brutal head-to-head lesson. Jono landed a 1,320 thanks in large part to Reece Walsh's late-game heroics against the Dragons, rescuing what had looked like a disastrous captain call at the 65-minute mark.
Key Player Performances
Here's who caught the eye of Jono and Cracker in Round 13:
- James Tedesco scored just 45 following a score in the low 20s at Magic Round, with a breakeven that has blown out over 200 and a price drop of over $70k. His value is now tracking toward ~$780K and falling.
- Cam Munster bounced back strongly with a 96 — line breaks plus two line assists — after scores of 77 and 127 in his previous two rounds, signalling he's fully back.
- Jacob Kiraz was a standout with 106 points, 81 in base-plus-power, and 40 of those points coming from tackle busts and offloads alone. He's now scored two tries from fullback in consecutive weeks.
- Ethan Strange posted a 102 with a try and assist off the back of his State of Origin debut, and his breakeven sits at just 12 heading into the next round.
- Te Maire Martin was the most talked-about SuperCoach trade target of the episode, scoring 76 with two try assists and set to rise around $125K in value, with a breakeven of approximately -50.
- Heilum Luki was the Cowboys' best player despite their loss, scoring 98 with 71 in base-plus-power and still owned by 73.3% of the top 10%.
- Scott Drinkwater fell back to 32 after his stunning 120 the week prior, losing $25K with a break-even of around 80. He’s a likely trade-out for Round 15 given the Cowboys' tough draw, including a Panthers fixture and an upcoming bye.
- Val Holmes put up 103 — two tries, 20 goal-kicking points, and 43 in base-plus-power — but the consensus remains: don't touch (yet) him given his lack of bye coverage.
NRL SuperCoach Trade Tips For Round 14
James Tedesco tops the rage trade conversation. With a break-even of 202, he risks dropping below $700K if he scores another 60-ish. Both hosts leaned toward holding through Round 14 before the bye, but acknowledged the financial risk for coaches who need cash ahead of Round 15.
Tom Jenkins posted a 55 with two line breaks but frustrated owners by throwing a clear forward pass that killed a certain try assist. ‘Milky’ has a breakeven that’s back under control at 49, and the consensus was to hold unless you have bigger problems elsewhere.
NRL SuperCoach Trade Targets Heading Into Round 15 Bye
Te Maire Martin is the standout value pick, even after a price rise. He will be approximately $360k and with dual HFB/5-8 eligibility, both hosts declared him "undeniable" after his second-half performance and don't give Luke Metcalf much of a chance of taking that position off him.
He has a bye in Round 14, giving coaches extra time to plan. Head over to the Player Stats table to keep up with his ownership trends.
Jacob Kiraz is shaping as a season-long keeper, though his misses in Rounds 15 and 18 make timing critical.
For a fullback POD, Jahream Bula has an enticing draw (Titans, Dolphins, Knights, Dragons across the bye rounds), while Taine Tuaupiki - playing fullback for a top-four Warriors side - drew the most enthusiasm from both hosts as a buy for Round 15, although Isaiah Iongi in a bottom four side could also be a shout.
Looking Ahead
Both hosts are targeting zero trades in Round 14, though Round 15 looms large — many squads currently have single-digit confirmed starters when accounting for Origin and injury uncertainties.
Coaches are advised to check their Round 15 numbers now and consider whether one pre-emptive trade this week avoids a forced situation later.
