Sunday Snap NRL Round 17 review: Ballr SuperCoach Winners, Losers and Trade Targets

It was another week of wild swing and disappointment in NRL SuperCoach in Round 17. Jono and Tubes break it down in the latest Sunday Snap episode.

NRL SuperCoach Round 17 delivered plenty of carnage, and the Ballr Sunday Snap crew had plenty to say. Here's your weekly debrief with Jono and Tubes.

Ready to Explode: Keaon Koloamatangi

The first big NRL SuperCoach talking point was South Sydney's Keaon Koloamatangi, who posted 85 points in 76 minutes - all base plus power - and was spotted fully unstrapped for the first time since the early rounds.

At $534k, Tubes and Jono see genuine value, especially compared to Alex Twal, who is around $250k more expensive. The key question: can Keaon lock in 65–70 minutes per game?

The guys think yes, with South Sydney pushing hard for a top-eight spot and Origin likely to free up middle forward minutes.

A worthy NRL SuperCoach trade consideration for Round 18.

Rage Trades: Jayden Campbell and Mark Nawaqanitwase

Jayden Campbell had his worst score at 5/8 - 34 points - missing all three sideline conversions and losing six points to goal kicking.

With common SuperCoach squads weighing up Campbell vs Te Marie Martin for the trade to Nicho Hynes, Jono and Tubes leaned toward holding Campbell, citing his three-week run of 80+ scores prior and his superior week-to-week playability.

Mark Nawaqanitawase scored just 28 - his worst ever NRL SuperCoach score - in a game where the ball never reached the Roosters' right edge.

Both hosts agreed: don't rage trade him.

He had five errors, which won't happen regularly, and he was confirmed in the NSW Blues Origin III squad, meaning a bye in Round 18.

Marky Mark is a SuperCoach must-have from Round 20 onwards.

Round 17 Match Review Points of Interest

  • Tallis Duncan exploded for 117 points, two tries and an assist, cementing his dual 2RF/CTW status and making himself a must-own NRL SuperCoach asset.
  • Herbie Farnworth continued his superhuman form with 101 points, including a try, two line breaks, and 64 base plus power in 80 minutes. The safest SuperCoach captaincy option going around.
  • Jamayne Isaako on the Dolphins right edge was flagged as a hold, though an Origin call-up for Jack Bostock limits his ceiling.
  • Isaiah Papali'i was concussed after 66 minutes in a significant hit to coaches who paired him with Xavier Willison in their front row.
  • Thomas Jenkins went for 91 despite a flat second half from Penrith — the Milkman always delivers.

Trade Thoughts Heading into Round 18

Both hosts are targeting Nicho Hynes as their priority acquisition.

Tubes is moving on Te Marie Martin, while Jono is weighing up whether to bring in both Hynes and Tom Trbojevic by trading Cody Walker.

Adam Doueihi was flagged as a big POD play, but the hosts ultimately preferred Cleary and Hynes as the run-home halfbacks.
